Winter Evenings 2015 opens with a presentation by Howard Coffin, made possible by a grant from the Vermont Humanities Council. A seventh generation Vermonter, Mr. Coffin has six ancestors who served in Vermont Civil War regiments. He has travelled around the nation to increase public understanding of the Civil War and its heritage, and he has worked tirelessly to preserve the sites so vital to appreciate the reality of this conflict. His many books include: "Nine Months to Gettysburg," "Gun Over the Champlain Valley," "The Battered Stars," and most recently, "Something Abides: Discovering the Civil War in Today's Vermont." Come learn at the feet of the pre-eminent historian of Vermont in the Civil War.
